In the small intestines, pancreatic amylases, lipases, and proteases act on starch, lipids, and peptides by breaking them down into glucose, fatty acids, and amino acids, respectively. Micro-villi in the small intestines absorbs glucose, fatty acids, and amino acids for the body to utilize. Large intestines function by absorbing vitamins, minerals, water, and other electrolytes for the remaining waste being excreted as feces.
