Schwitzer and Rubin (2015) highlight four steps of the inverted pyramid model. The first step is to identify the client’s problems and symptomatic behavior. The second step is to organize the client’s concerns into logical groups or constellations. This is followed by the linking of groups of symptoms to theoretical orientation and then narrowing these groups of symptoms to the clients’ most basic difficulties based on their theoretical orientation.
