A project in psychology is a prototype, an ideal image of an intended or possible object or state, or in some cases, a plan or design for action. In a broader sense, design is an activity to implement changes in the environment (natural or artificial). Designing is understood as managing the spontaneous development of the material world.
In psychological knowledge, the notion of design has recently gained considerable relevance and new content. In this field, the transformative function of design about the present level of knowledge has also been emphasized. In addition to the basic concepts, it is possible to identify several other notions related to the problem of project activities.
Psychology uses the notion of project situations. It is understood as a projective activity connected with the solution of problem situations in creative design. Project activity is an integrative activity that synthesizes play, cognitive, value-oriented, transformative, learning, communicative, and, most importantly, creative activity.
For mental health counselors, the project is important primarily because it represents communication with the patient. By creating joint projects, the counselor can guide the patient within the course of treatment. In addition, the project situation technique can be used to visualize certain states during therapy. Project situations help the patient to analyze their emotions by visualizing a certain state for themselves.
