The term urogenital defines the combined functionality of an organ when it includes both the reproductive and excretory systems. The human urogenital system contains pathways, muscles, cells, and exocrine glands located in high proximity to each other. The term is more applicable to males than females because men’s urethra transports semen and urine through the same channel. The tube is located in the penis that is used as an excretory or reproductive organ depending on a necessity.
Women’s reproductive and excretory organs have a divided structure, and each segment operates autonomously. However, they have still been named a urogenital system due to their proximity and the participation of, for instance, ovaries in both processes.
