Europeans celebrated the start of World War I because the fighting enabled them to express themselves freely and escape boring routines. For instance, some socialists chose to fund a war in which workers turned against one another. Perhaps they wanted their people to get the jobs of those who hailed from other nationalities. Those who hated working, attending classes, and people’s obsession with making profits thought the war was healthy. It gave them a chance to grab the things that make them happier in life. Therefore, the war became a shortcut to satisfying people’s needs and aspirations.
