JIT is a concept of producing the right quantity at the right time to satisfy an impending demand. The primary objective of JIT was to eliminate waste. JIT was a success in Japan due to the vast research done by Toyota Company. Western companies did not want to try out JIT since they were of the view that the approach would bring about a reduction in the quality of the products, hence a reduction in sales. However, the western companies were able to see the cost-saving associated with the approach.
