After his father died in 1816, Shaka Zulu started his crusade to obtain power over other Zulu clans. Due to his childhood experience, it became his obsession to get even with his enemies as a child—many experienced fatal punishments in his conquest. If Shaka’s enemies could not name a time when they assisted him or Nandi, they suffered as Shaka deemed proportional to his suffering. He widened his territory and demanded a new design for his weapon, the Iklwa. At this time, one Zwide killed Dingiswayo, Shaka’s chief. Shake avenged the death by killing Zwide’s mother, who was a shaman, by locking her inside a hut with hyena and jackals but still angered by Zwide. They soon met in 1825 where Zwide was killed.
