From my point of view, the processes which currently occur in my community can be defined through conflict theory. Consumerism, which can be seen within social relationships, is caused by the meritocracy problem. The initial inequality in resources and opportunities from the current capitalistic model of society influences even interpersonal relationships. The social role within my community is defined by the social status of a person. The distribution of resources and opportunities also directly depends on meritocracy.
