I can safely assert that Law, Ethics, and Governance turned out to be one of the most significant and relevant courses for me during my studies. Cases of actual companies and corporate scandals played a notable role in the assimilation of the material. Based on my career ambitions and personal interests, I found the topic of legal liabilities and the gig economy to be the most relevant among others.

This concept of an employer-employee relationship is gaining popularity and is an undeniable trend among companies like Uber, Airbnb, Lyft, Etsy, and TaskRabbit. For this reason, I see the need and the opportunity to study this trend from a legal point of view actively. This will protect all parties involved from corporate scandals and violations of labor rights.

Thanks to the study of the Uber case, and in my future career, I will be attentive to the regulation of the working conditions of hired freelancers regarding safety, the limit of working hours, holiday pay, minimum pay, etc. The gig economy is both an up-and-coming industry that helps companies relieve themselves of responsibility and a somewhat slippery field in which it is essential to protect the rights of a freelancer.
