Zanzibar is considered one of the African localities where Islamists established and improved the Ibadi Law School in the best way, originating around the 7th century. Today, the school is thriving in Oman, Algeria, Tunisia, and East Africa. Ibadi teachings differ from both Sunni and Shiite Islam, not only in their jurisprudence but also in their basic beliefs. Ibadi Islam originates from the Kharijites, although modern representatives of this school are categorically opposed to being classified as Kharijites.
