A participatory model allows them to work closely with their superiors, which has a positive effect on employees’ perception of the value they provide to the company. In addition to this, research demonstrates that this EIP has a positive effect on job satisfaction, performance, and turnover rates. A representative model, on the other hand, offers employees an opportunity to have a group of spokespeople. Such an EIP is not ideal since it is harder to represent everyone’s interests due to the lack of direct involvement. This is the primary reason why participative management is more efficient, even though it can be more time-consuming.

There is a possibility to combine both managerial approaches and create a mixed EIP. On the one hand, managers can develop strategies that would engage employees in a participative EIP. On the other hand, employees can have an opportunity to elect a group of representatives that would function as an advisory unit to the board of directors. Such a mixed approach would allow the company to get direct feedback from its employees while allowing them to represent their interests among the business executives.
