Classical criminologists would view the case in terms of the rational theory that implies calculating gains and pains. The actions of the offenders can be explained with the help of this theory. The males committed the crime because they thought that no one would ever find out that the incident had taken place (Sutherland, 2016). They calculated the possible consequences and decided that an unconscious female would not report or even remember anything. Since they were sure they would not be punished, they assaulted the victim and even took pictures and filmed the actions they knew were unlawful.
