The results of the study conducted among sociology majors in 2012 indicate that over two-thirds of them perceive their current occupations as career-type permanent jobs. Overall, the majority of the recent graduates found themselves in occupations in social services, counseling, and the education sector. The career-type viewpoint was particularly prevalent among social scientists and graduates holding placements in management-related occupations. By comparison, those employed in the marketing, clerical segment, and customer service are less likely to consider their occupations as permanent. The positions occupied by recent sociology graduates differed depending on the sector they belonged to.

Finally, some found occupations in the education sector, becoming EFL teachers, high school special education teachers, and assistant site managers. Employers in every category appeared to appreciate the versatility of degrees from the social science sphere, finding it easy to incorporate the knowledge of the graduates into the operational workflow. The majority of the respondents easily fit into their new occupations, despite it being their early post-graduate work experience. I found this information interesting due to its clear and detailed coverage of the careers available to sociology graduates. The data provided illustrated how the wide range of topics covered within social science degree can be adapted to fit practical purposes and real-life tasks that deal with current issues.
