The Buddha’s shortcut to spiritual enlightenment can be described by following specific stages of the process. First, one needs to be freed from the cycle of rebirth, which is also referred to as Moksha. This transition means escaping from the sufferings of human life and the ultimate shift from material to spiritual.
Second, a person should achieve the state known as Nirvana, which is a complete stillness of mind. In general, it is a result of the described transition from materialism at the stage of Moksha.
Third, one reaches an understanding or awakening, which is also referred to as Satori or the final stage of enlightenment, on which it becomes permanent in contrast to Moksha and Nirvana. Thus, the combination of these concepts in the pre-determined order is the proper spiritual path in Buddhism.
