There are various social and institutional mechanisms discriminating against those who are classified as women. From an early age, gender norms and expectations are imposed on females, with varying levels of severity in different countries. Furthermore, there are direct and indirect factors that contribute to gender discrimination against women. They include unequal access to education and the labor market, pay gaps, workplace discrimination, forced and child marriage, and gender-based roles. In addition, in certain countries, religiously justified laws discriminate against women, denying them their fundamental rights.
