Global financial crisis experienced by many nations calls for protectionism to promote exports and limit imports. Failure in the job market has been due to poor governance, inadequate transparency, inadequate competition, and ineffective designed incentive structures created by a free trade market. Indeed, this is true and can be blamed on resistance to changes witnessed in larger institutions that are not keen on the employment of citizens of their host nation. My view is that protectionism is very critical in ensuring the security of jobs even though it may not fully protect individuals from losing jobs. This, in turn, affects and limits the creation of jobs necessary for business and economic growth.
