What makes Down syndrome a chromosomal condition? There are 11 characteristics that are often associated with Down syndrome. List four of these characteristics.

Down syndrome is the most prevalent extra-chromosome abnormality that gives rise to a living kid. The syndrome refers to the condition when one of the chromosomes fails to split correctly. A healthy newborn child has 46 chromosomes, but those who have Down syndrome are distinct due to the trisomy.

Instead of two copies, the newborn has three copies of chromosome 21 or an additional partial copy. As the brain and physical characteristics grow, this extra chromosome creates health issues. Typical physical symptoms of this trisomy include an enlarged tongue, rounded facial features, slanted eyes, as well as unique hands, feet, and fingerprints.
