What is Toradol? Why used? Adverse effects?

Toradol is the brand name for ketorolac which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used as an analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory. It works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins which are pain receptors that causes the patient to experience pain.

Toradol is used as a short-term drug for the treatment of moderate to severe pain due to its analgesic properties. It is used after or before surgery and helps in comfortable recovery. Toradol is not used for long-term treatment due to its toxicity in case of prolonged use and availability in the blood.

Adverse effects are bloody or black stools, persistent abdominal pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating, sores in the mouth, renal failure.
