The evolution of both media and technology has been happening hand-in-hand throughout the decades and based on their growth, media and technology have been developed to establish the informational environment associated with them. In theory, the ease of information accessibility results in a rise in the average knowledge level. Nonetheless, it is just plausible that, theoretically, media technology will result in a society where nothing is retained at all, and the community becomes plagued by a general lack of knowledge. As more power is given to media and technology, it becomes possible for the community to decipher what is fact from what is fiction in terms of the conveyed information. The inability to process our information by solely relying on media means our failure to question the validity of the presented information.
Since mankind has established a form of reliance on what is presented by media and technology, it, therefore, becomes unsurprising how every piece of information presented to us by the media becomes fact. Establishing media authenticity then relies on how best we can decipher the information we are fed as the appropriate one and the absence of our knowledge bodies as judgment. Between media technology and knowledge, the relationship is rapidly and actively taking over globally.

The questions that help underpin epistemology in social media lie in determining why the relationship between knowledge and reality matters in the presented information. Therefore, understanding whether what is presented is known and how and when we know what we know plays a significant role in whether the information established by social media has evidence and reliability. What qualifies and constitutes fake news is greatly attributed to the inability of the information has in cover the essential parameters associated with news in its entire range adequately.
While social media plays a significant role in knowledge acquisition, the possibility of deceit and falsehood-related problems results in how information is shared.
