What is the K-T boundary and where does it occur? Give two reasons why it was an important discovery.

One of the most important geological signatures, “the K-T boundary, is a thin band of 65 million years ago.” It can be stated that “The boundary marks the end of the Mesozoic era and the beginning of the Cenozoic era.” It can be associated with a very important historical event, which in the terms of geology known as the “Cretaceous-Tertiary extinction event,” which was responsible for the mass extinction of the animals that roamed at that time period.

The first importance of the aspect is that it denotes the time when a 10 km diameter object hit the Earth at a very fast speed and caused extinction on the plant. Second, it is a clear boundary between the Mesozoic era and the Cenozoic era.
