As human service professionals, we should strive for virtue ethics since they emphasize the moral character of an individual’s development. When dealing with unsuspected unethical behavior in colleagues, the first thing is to inform the relevant authority of the specific witnessed behavior. That will be followed by a handbook, contract, or previous practice on handling possible dishonest behavior.
When accused of unethical behavior, the first thing is to identify the dilemma of the problem associated with the behavior. The second is to identify the involved potential issues, reviewing the relevant ethics codes. The fourth step is to know the applicable regulations and laws and obtain a consultation. Sixth, considerations must be made on the probable and possible courses of action towards enumerating various decision consequences. The last step is to select what seems to be the appropriate course of action.
