In his essay, “Photography and the New God,” Paul Strand develops an argument that photography should be “straight” in order to be considered as art. According to Strand, a photographer should use this new art medium in order to objectively represent reality with reference to its true details. Thus, photography has certain advantages in comparison to other art forms, and these differences need to be valued and accentuated.
