Locke believed that people perceive everything through experience. Thus, people feel, see, smell, or hear about something, and they begin perceiving this object or concept. The philosopher singled out two types of qualities of everything. Primary qualities are physical qualities (smell, color, shape, and so on). Secondary qualities are ideas, which are created about things, ideas we associate with things and concepts. The theory is plausible as experience and perception are closely connected.
