Government stands for how society organizes itself and distributes authority and power to achieve common goals and benefits. Thus, governments seek to develop the state’s economy and improve the nation’s security and population’s lives. The United States has a democratic government, meaning society’s organization that ensures citizens’ rule and equality.
One of the most crucial concepts in the discussion of governments is the public good. Governments also provide citizens with public goods, such as public transportation and education, health care system, food and housing for poor people, help and special programs for older adults, etc. As a rule, public goods are provided for the population using the money the government gets from the taxes. Another concept is the common good, which stands for people’s free access to natural resources, such as water or fish in the rivers.
