Cystic fibrosis is a progressive genetic disorder, which is a result of pleiotropy. Some of the common symptoms include constant lung infections, breathing limitations, and other complications. The reason for the disease lies in the dysfunctionality of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator, CFTR, protein, meaning it isunable to aid with chloride movement to the cell surface. As a result, organ mucus becomes traps germs and bacteria in the lungs and prevents the release of digestive enzymes in the gut.
