What is child maltreatment?

If a youngster looks to be doing well, any maltreatment, no matter how minor, harms them. Child maltreatment relates to any form of neglect or abuse of a person under the age of 18 by a family, caregiver, or another individual in charge of the child’s safety. A great percentage of abused children are victimized by someone they consider a friend or trust implicitly. Physical violence, sexual assault, psychological abuse, and neglect are the four distinct categories of child maltreatment.
