Fire pumps are among the most critical parts of fire protection systems for any building. They are a critical component of the fire spray system, without which their full function is impossible. Their primary purpose is to draw water from the source to which they are connected and create high pressure to ensure a continuous flow. When the spray system is activated, the pressure in the system drops sharply, so such pumps are necessary to keep the system in working order.
Commercial buildings are often more than one or two stories high and can reach enormous heights. In such cases, a pumping system is strictly necessary to create sufficient pressure throughout the system, even at altitudes of several hundred feet. At the same time, it is impossible to place fire-fighting equipment everywhere and train all personnel in its use. Therefore, spray systems must be used that cannot effectively cover the entire required area without fire pumps keeping the water flow constant.
