A Lewis acid is a chemical species that contains an empty orbital that has the capability of accepting an electron pair from a Lewis base to form a Lewis adduct. It can be defined as a substance that can accept a pair of non-bonding electrons, for example, hydrogen ion; H+.
Lanthanides are more acidic compared to calcium ions. This owes to the fact that Lanthanides have strong Lewis acid than calcium ions.
