American Revolution, and in particular one of its ideologists Benjamin Franklin, tried to emancipate the slaves claiming that all people are equal before God. The Revolution was a chance for slavery to end the centuries of suffering, but the political interests of certain forces, namely the Southern states where all the welfare was built on the use of slave work, did not let to achieve this.
