Concerning cultural values and norms, it is considered respectful in some cultures to wait until a given age group possesses something for younger ones to buy. This value can be seen in how consumers in these cultures may be more likely to delay making a purchase decision in order to compare different options and make the best choice.

Furthermore, friends, family, and other social peers can often influence a person’s purchase decisions. For example, if most of one’s friends have iPhones, one may be more likely to buy one too. Moreover, the socio-cultural environment includes all of the social institutions and cultural values that exist in a society. It can affect consumer behavior by shaping their needs, wants, and preferences.

In some cases, the socio-cultural environment may even dictate what products or brands consumers are allowed to purchase. For example, in some countries, it is more culturally acceptable for women to carry a certain type of smartphone than men. This could lead to more women purchasing phones from the Samsung Company than men.

Additionally, several individual and psychological factors can influence a person’s purchase decision when it comes to smartphones. For instance, people’s individual needs and preferences will play a role in determining which phone they ultimately choose. Some people might prioritize features like a large screen or a powerful camera, while others might care more about having a lightweight and compact device.

Similarly, some people might prefer the interface of one operating system over another. In addition to individual preferences, psychological factors can also come into play when choosing a smartphone. For example, perceived risks and benefits can impact whether someone decides to buy a particular product. If someone perceives that there is more risk involved in buying a certain kind of phone, then they will hesitate to buy it.
