What can make a patient a candidate for percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA)? What are the potential complications for a patient undergoing PTCA?

The combination of STEMI (acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction), angina pectoris, and the ineffectiveness of medication (TNKase) may lead a patient to become a candidate for the procedure. The potential complications of PNCA may include arrhythmias, bleeding, reoccurring heart conditions, allergic reaction to the materials or infection, damaged blood vessels, and kidney damage. Some less severe adverse outcomes, such as bruising, may also occur.
