The High Gothic structure is characterized to be visually aesthetic and is portrayed as linear and reflecting the religious intensity prevalent at that time. The Gothic style was the dominant structure in Europe for approximately 400 years. It was also characterized by its lightness and huge spaces. It had various forms with figures of flying buttresses which reduced wall spaces of their structural form. There were also remarkable windows that allowed light to penetrate through the stained glasses. There was a certain kind of transparency to these walls that made these cathedrals stand out as structures with spiritual and mysterious ambiance.
