What are the four major sociological theories?

The first one is called the functionalist perspective, which considers society a structured system addressing the societal consensus as the central element. Another theoretical perspective is called conflict theory. It is devoted to analyzing the social inequality and struggles for scarce resources as driving power of society. The third theory called the symbolic interactionist perspective, focuses on the micro-level analysis of social formation and functioning. The last theory is postmodernism which explores consumerism’s and postindustrialization’s impact on society.
