The most rational theories addressing the causes of crimes are biological and sociological. The first one emphasizes the genetic predisposition to committing crimes. This theory also highlights the role of aggression as one of the inherent features of human nature leading to crimes.

The sociological theory considers the social push as a principal cause of why people commit crimes. There are two main paradigms in criminology: behavioral and definitional. The first one considers crime as a biologically conditioned process, while the second emphasizes that it is an unlawful act extrinsic for people.

Analyzing the socialization process and the media sphere, I would like to highlight the usage of the behavioral paradigm to understand the nature of crimes. This paradigm is highly used in the popular culture sphere, where the criminals’ motifs are often discussed through the psychosocial perspective.
