When wall-mounted devices are accidentally set off, they tend to release foam that often creates collateral damage to the inside of the cockpit and sophisticated electronics of the aircraft since the foam would fall from a height and directly enter the cockpit. Floor mounted devices are actually mounted about 18 inches from the ground and even if there is some accidental discharge, the foam does not harm the aircraft. For these reasons, floor-mounted devices are preferred over wall-mounted devices.
