According to a variety of sources, water is rightfully considered to be the number one marker of climate change, as any modifications in temperature inevitably affect the rates of icebergs’ melting, precipitation in rainforests, and sea levels rising. The uncertainty in the natural disasters and global temperatures, for its part, presents uncertainty to access to clean water worldwide.

Currently, nearly 3% of the global water supply constitutes freshwater. This amount rapidly decreases due to high pollution rates, limiting the developing country’s access to the normal water supply. Eventually, such a tendency presents a risk of water shortage for generations to come, as the water supply, unlike the population rates, is not prone to increase with time.

The primary issue with making feasible predictions on water supply concerns the fact that it is currently unknown how water cycles can respond to global nature preservation policies. For example, according to one of the latest UN reports, there is an assumption that embracing biofuel as an alternative energy source, while beneficial in terms of reducing air pollution, may affect water scarcity rates.

Moreover, there is currently no technology that would be able to predict the extent to which a certain event can contribute to the sea level increase or water pollution. For this reason, all temporarily adopted strategies encompass extremely flexible “no regrets” policies that account for actions in case of both disasters and normal living conditions.
