Watch “Obedience” with Stanley Milgram, produced by Alexander Street (1962). Some of the teachers carried on shocking the learner until the maximum shock value had been reached. What do you think was going in their minds at the time?

I think that teachers who continued to shock the learners might have done that because they were more vulnerable to outside pressure than those who refused to continue the experiment. I can suggest that some of them truly felt like they “did not have a choice,” thinking about the authority figure represented by the experimenter and that he had the situation under control.
