US Foreign and Domestic Policy in the Late 19th – Early 20th Century
Analyze U.S. foreign and domestic policy from the end of the 19th century to the mid-20th century.
The U.S. experienced unprecedented growth both at home and abroad in those years, but with that growth came ”growing pains” as the country grappled with reconciling its ideals and values (freedom, democracy, justice, equality, etc.) with the new realities of the time. Reflect on this period of time and ask yourself this two-part question: How did the U.S. live up to and also fall short of those ideals? Write two detailed and thorough paragraphs about both parts of the question (Succeeded and Failed), choosing one example from each period.
