Should we make UK online schools free?

I know online schools are free in the US (Connections Academy, for example), why not in the UK as well?
Wouldn’t it be great?
What do you think?

  1. Connections academy and k12 are an exception, they are privately owned, but taxpayers’ money is spent on them.
They are not technically free, they are public.

  2. It would be nice 🙂
I think I know a couple of free websites, but they are not effective.
A proper online free school would be great.

  3. Check here: It’s online school in England, but it’s a plan, not an actual school.
They hope to start the first free online school in England, but they haven’t managed it yet. I think, they’ve been planning to open in September 2016, but the date’s been changing.
Also, it’s only for England, not for the UK in general. But I guess, we are getting there)
Also, Connections Academy is Pearson-owned, and Pearson is based in the UK. Proof:

  4. Online programs are not free in the US, there are online public schools like Connections, but if you don’t live in the states where they offer this opportunity, you have to pay for online education.
Public schools are supported by the government, they are not really free.
You have to pay for education this way or another.

  6. These schools are accredited, they are like usual public schools and they get money from the government. They aren’t free, taxpayers pay for them.

  8. There is no real demand for such a school in the UK. I mean, if there were, you’d be campaigning for it, right? And you don’t, so you don’t need it.
