To a very large extent, Orthodoxy is largely Russian. Though there is the Orthodox Church outside Russia that has differences in structure and functions from the original Russian Orthodox culture, it still retains very many features of the Russian culture. The whole Orthodox Church is personified by Russian legends such as Demetrius of Rostov, Ivan Kireevsky, and Platon of Moscow. The Orthodox doctrine is full of teachings of Slavophil and concepts of the sobornost. The architecture and icons of expression that are found in the Orthodox Church have their roots in the Russian culture meaning that Orthodoxy is the main repository of the Russian culture.
