One example of egoism in “The Shawshank Redemption” is the warden’s behavior: he only acts to promote his self-interest, using Andy and other people to do it. Captain Hadley’s actions can also be described as an example of egoism; for instance, when he talks about his brother’s death, his only concern is the money he will get.

Another example of his egoism is the cold-blooded murder of Tommy. The actions of Bogs and his gang are also egoistic, although their self-interest involves sexual abuse. Finally, the actions of Elmo Blatch are also an example of egoism, as he committed a terrible crime and escaped to save his life.
