If I were a scientist, I would advocate for putting a patient on a mechanical device or other animal’s heart. It is unfortunate that only a few people get a donor heart because this means the rest of the patients die. I think the main goal of doctors should be saving human lives. If using unconventional means such as mechanical devices and animal hearts saves lives, they should be utilized.
