The NRL classification scheme has three axes: genesis, time of introduction, and location. Name two other axes that would be of interest to an analyst.

The NRL classification scheme classifies system flaws according to the genesis of the flaw, time of introduction of the flaw, and location of the flaw in the system. This scheme intends to provide information that can help in knowing how the system had failed with respect to what the failure was when it was introduced and at which location of the system it was detected. For a system failure analyst, information on why the system failure will be equally important. Failure in one location of the system may be a result of a flaw in another location.

This axis allows for analysis of the whole system to ensure the flaw is well understood and corrected in a way that protects the whole system. Apart from these axes, the level of abstraction is equally important for a system failure analyst. This information is important in classifying the flaw either as a high-level abstraction or low-level abstraction and hence can help in designing appropriate remedial measures for each case.
