Tell me your definition of ‘systemic racism,’ ‘decolonization,’ and ‘overrepresentation.’ How do the definitions apply to indigenous and Black perspectives in the criminal justice system?

Systemic racism refers to discrimination that became a part of some culture’s or system’s functioning. Decolonization is a process that allows a colonized nation to return to its own culture and values. Overrepresentation refers to the excessive presentation of certain groups in the criminal justice system. Along with systemic discrimination, colonialism is often considered to be a cause of the overrepresentation of Indigenous and Black people in the criminal justice system, and decolonization is seen as a possible solution.
