The key focus of this chapter is to discuss the significance and theoretical framework of leisure as a form of human activity. Section no. 1 provides a diagram that illustrates the multifactorial of leisure as a system. It is discussed that leisure time correlates with individual socialization, as spending leisure time often requires the participation of others, which allows for networking. In addition, it is shown that leisure time is a time-dependent function, and tables of the effects of globalization on leisure time are provided.
An essential part of the discussion is the recognition of leisure quality as a characteristic of leisure. The article discusses four aspects of such quality and shows in detail how each of them affects leisure. As a general summary, it draws the line at leisure as a flexible, epoch-dependent system and identifies the facets of its variability.
