What American colleges are
cheap enough for international students?
Students usually reside in dorms. Please specify your intended major and your definition of cheap.
In a lot of schools, all freshmen should live on campus in dorms. You can spend all four years on campus, though. The lowest cost I’ve witnessed in our community college, it requires $27,000 a year. Prepare to spend more. This only applies to your first two college years.
To obtain a Bachelor’s degree (4 years), you will need to pay around $250,000. For international students, the expenses are higher than for citizens. You will need to confirm your ability to pay for school, transportation, and living to get accepted. The expenses for international students vary from $50,000 to $100,000 a year.
In the majority of universities, freshmen have to live on campus, which takes around $12,000-15,000 a year. These expenses include the housing fee, furniture, utility bills, food, etc.
As for living arrangements, there are two options: you either live on campus\in a dorm or rent an apartment on your own. The tuition rates in US universities is around $ 23,000 on average, and the living expenses will take around $1000.
You need to start your preparations well before the intended studies (3-5 months), for the process is long and bothersome.
You will need to pass the following steps to receive a visa:
apply and be admitted to a US university that accepts foreign students and is approved by SEVP (Student and Exchange Visitor Program);
pay a fee to Student and Exchange Visitor Information System;
pay a fee for the visa application;
apply for a visa and provide them with a recent photo of yourself;
plan and visit the embassy for an interview.
