Socrates’ insistence on being referred to as “philo-sophoi” was based on his insistence on arguing for the truth. He was unjustly accused, seeing as he supported the dissemination of truth. He addressed ethical issues by questioning what others considered the truth and by analyzing concepts such as piety and virtue. It should be noted that he was a gadfly in a good way since he challenged society to think differently.
