Silverstone’s nakedness is the reason for her objectification in the video as she sells herself to draw attention. She could have filmed the monologue with clothes on and been the same serious about the topic she promoted. Such an approach could make vegetarianism and its benefits the subject of discussion instead of a naked body. Moreover, Silverstone is famous, and it could be enough to spread the idea of vegetarianism as people tend to emulate celebrities’ attitudes.

In terms of ethics of objectification, it is different to let people see someone’s naked body in a video than on a nude beach. In a video case, there is a particular reason to be naked, such as drawing attention to sell a product. If a person is on a nude beach, it does not objectify them, and it is their own choice of being naked. It could be ethically incorrect to judge people on the nude beach and objectify them for visiting such a place.

As a respected nonprofit organization, PETA has no license to objectify Silverstone yet did so because of her own choice to allow it. These actions severely affected the promotion because Silverstone’s authority was lost behind a naked body as objectification drains a personality from a body.
