Should social or moral worth ever be taken into account in deciding who should get a transplant? Suppose the question is whether to give a transplant to a Nobel laureate or to a hard-working, honest truck driver. Assuming that all other factors are equal, which one should get the transplant? Why?

To me, it is appropriate to consider social and moral worth when making decisions concerning transplants in case of disasters, crises, and similar difficult situations involving massive risks. For instance, if some society’s survival depends on a particular invention, it is reasonable to give preference to a person who works on it when saving lives. If all factors are equal, when choosing between a Nobel laureate and an honest truck driver, I will give preference to one who was the first to register for the waiting list. It would allow me to make a just decision and consider that all people are worthy. At the same time, I would save the Nobel laureate if he was the only person to create something and save thousands of people.
