The essence of prayer, according to the author of the statement, is to learn to love everything and everyone unconditionally and to find advantages and pluses (while remaining critical) of everything instead of emphasizing and singling out fragments.

I agree with the idea of this statement, though the wording of the statement has caused me questions and doubts in the first place. It is true that universal love is the core of Christian teaching, which means that students should not express love only for specific subjects. That said, the very wording “I love math” does not carry any contradiction to the Christian paradigm, as it does not equal “And I do not love the other subjects.” Expressing one’s opinion is allowed, but on the contrary, it is encouraged by the scriptures as long as it is not accompanied by anger and spite. Thus, I agree with the quote if one does not take it literally.

Since the very idea of the suggested quote is for the student to learn to see the beauty in everything and love everything, it may be helpful for Math 102 course. I am sure I will have to face the complexities and uncertainties of learning at some point. Student stress, assignments, and exams can lead me to decadence and attempt to give up, to hate math. I am convinced that referring to this quote will help me in difficult moments and set me on the right path. In this way, the quote about the need to love everything and everyone as part of a global prayer may one day be an essential instruction for me.

Colossians 3:23 speaks of the need to do any work from the heart, not for self-serving purposes. This teaching shows the necessity of always remaining honest and sincere before oneself and God, for only in love for the work being done does it become possible to achieve results and not contradict the principles of Christianity. There is a significant parallel between the quotation under discussion and Colossians 3:23: the call to love all that the student does. Although the forms and styles of the two quotations may seem different, their ultimate purpose — to encourage the student not to differentiate between subjects but to learn to love them all — is the same.
